WIP Space Marine Tactical Squad

As mentioned in my previous post the paints for my Assault on Black Reach has finally arrived so its time to get cracking on my Ultramarines! First up is the 10 man (inc. one Sergeant) tactical squad...

Following the advice of the very talented Ron Ronsaikowski (FromTheWarp - really, check it out) I've decided to start painting inside out. This means that small recessed details (in this case eyes and flex-joints) are painted first.. This enables easy clean-up if mistakes are made... Below is half the squad with these details painted...

 

Next step is painting the base colour of the armour, a few thin layers of Macragge Blue, which creates a nice smooth surface...

Once all the dudes are painted its time to drybrush the bases and the continue to work on the details while also painting the guns...
